”Despair” transforms bodily motion captured by webcam into dark, layered visuals and generative audio. Motion detection algorithms analyze movement intensity, producing amorphous masks, cumulative drawing traces, and glitch effects. The sonic centerpiece is a generative piano system that responds across six intensity tiers, musicalizing despair through minor scales and dissonance. By repurposing surveillance technology as a poetic apparatus, the work critically examines algorithmic mediation of emotion and deconstructs the myth of technological ”objectivity.”
